Hope your autumn is going well! The weather has been really nice in these parts, so I am still riding in short sleeve shirts. I will enjoy it while I can.

The MRF is working hard to save the internal combustion engine. Recently the House passed a resolution H J Res 136 that would prohibit the EPA by a vote of 215 in favor, and 191 opposed. from enacting strict new emission controls and accelerating the rapid transition to all electric vehicles. The resolution goes to the Senate, but they are not expected to act on the Resolution. If the Resolution were to pass n the Senate, the President still has the option to veto the Resolution.
I can’t say this enough. The federal government, and many state governments are on a mission to destroy motorcycling as we know it. If you still don’t believe it, you’re fooling yourself. With the election in a couple weeks, vote for candidates who support our right to ride, work on our own vehicles, and support the free market in determining which motorcycles we want to buy. If you don’t get involved, your kids and grandkids will never know the life we enjoy now and want to continue to enjoy.
Colorado recently passed a lane filtering bill.
HR 906, which would guarantee you the right to repair your own motorcycle, is currently stuck in limbo. It was advanced out of another committee nearly a year ago, but no action has taken place since then. I would encourage you to join the MRF. They are taking every step measure necessary to ensure we can continue to fix our own motorcycles
California is considering making manufacturers responsible for the disposing of EV batteries at the end of their useful life.
Ford has a patent that allows the vehicle to eavesdrop on passengers to understand their marketing preferences.
If you ride a motorcycle. you are familiar with tar snakes. Some seem more slippery than others. Several years ago, a guy went down in New York State on his motorcycle from a tar snake. He looked for help from the AMA. Imre Szautzer, the government relations rep for the AMA at that time, contacted the New York DOT. After the usual game of whose responsibility, it was to investigate the problem, and who was going to fix it. ultimately the State of New York fixed the problem. They found the formula for the sealant was not correct. They changed the formula to provide more traction. Also, there is a standard for tar application. 1-3 millimeters deep and no more than 2” wide. Any variations from that can be deadly. If you see an issue, take a picture and send it to the Michigan DOT. There are enough road and traffic hazards. We shouldn’t have to worry about the proper formula and depth and width of tar snakes.
Don’t forget to get me your Region Member of the year. It’s that time again. Also think about who you think the ABATE Member of the Year should be at the Seminar in January.
